Up until recently it was thought that the only way to crack this player was to have a chip fitted from a supplier like those shown below:-
Company | URL | Pre-Cracked Player Inc VAT/ Delivery |
DIY Kit Inc VAT/Delivery |
Kit fitted Inc VAT/Delivery |
Comments |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Linkone | http://www.linkonline.co.uk | £279 + £12 delivery | £39.99 + £3.50 delivery | £74.99 + £12 return delivery Sender organises outgoing postage |
Region can be set to 1-6 and auto detect. No macrovision removal. |
Techtronics | http://www.techtronics.com | - |
£45.83 free postage | £69.33 including collection & return of player | Region can be set to 1-6 and auto detect. Macrovision removal. |
However it has now been found out that an Aiwa stereo remote (and now several others) can be used to change the region and disable the macrovision!
The region change resets itself when the player is switched off (even to standby I believe but please correct if wrong).
The procedure is :-

Unknown at present. You can certainly change it over 25 times.
No. Use the procedure below:-
To play a DVD switch on and insert the DVD and enter 3521 when asked for the parental lock code.
You can now switch the parental lock level to unlocked to avoid having to enter the code when you switch on.
This technique survives a mains power off.
